Here’s something I wrote for my work:
Scientists knew that we were creating more and more gas emissions but this week they were shocked to see such a large increase. Scientists thought that with the economic crisis people would be using less energy, however this isn’t the case. “We should be worried — really worried,” Richard Moss, director for climate change at the World Wildlife Fund told the Washington Post. “This is happening in the context of trying to reduce emissions.” To make matters worse, forests and oceans which usually absorb some of the our carbon dioxide are doing so at a lower rate. Recently they’ve been absorbing around 54% which is a drop of 3%. The two countries most responsible for this are China and the United States followed by India.
Are these numbers surprising to you? Did you also think that the economic crisis would help curb the use of energy?
